July, 2013 Time flies– happy summer!

The summer seems to be flying by; the youngest members of the family have been busy all summer; nobody needs naps anymore, so many long days playing in the orchard, going on summer trips and goofing around. The oldest in the family continue to goof off too and everyone has been having great vacations! Well deserved after our record breaking tangerine crops.
We are buys on the ranch keeping everything watered. Water tables are very low and we are relying heavily upon our Lake Casitas connections; thank goodness the dam was built in the 1950′s and we have this reliable water source! The forest surrounding Ojai is quite dry and we have deer, coyotes, bobcats and bears visiting our orchards. We have put out a water tank at the back of the orchard for them to dip from– this will hopefully keep them from chewing on our sprinklers to find water.
In season now: W.Murcott tangerines, Ojai Pixie Tangerines, Valencia oranges, Lemons and our delicious Ojai Grapefruit.
